  A What?? “First serves” are an easy, no strings attached, way to explore areas of ministry while helping you discover your interests, passions within the Asbury community. This will give you an opportunity to experience a specific ministry and then evaluate that experience to determine if you would like to further commit to serving in that area. Not the right fit? That’s okay, try a first serve opportunity in another available ministry!   Why try a First Serve?? We believe the Church should operate as a unified community of believers using their spiritual gifts to further the Kingdom of God. Becoming involved in ministry will help connect you with the Church body, strengthen your spiritual journey and bring you joy as you serve!   Who can do a First Serve?? Anyone who attends Asbury Church can do a First Serve! Ministry Descriptions

Administrative Team Ensures the church operates smoothly by accomplishing various office administrative and clerical tasks that are essential for the overall functioning of the church.   Opportunities:  Assisting with various clerical and office related tasks such as: communication card printing, bulletin printing & folding, church calendar creation and printing, data entry & record keeping.  

Connections Team Ensures all guests receive a welcome experience at Asbury and communicates opportunities for further involvement to anyone interested.   Opportunities:  Serving in the Welcome/Information center during services as a resource for visitors, volunteering at the Coffee Bar during weekend services, helping to connect individuals with serving opportunities within the church, coordinating membership classes and welcome gatherings to assimilate people into the church body.  

Events Team Ensures church activities run efficiently and creates opportunities for connections.   Opportunities: Serving through meal prep, set-up, tear-down, and coordination of various church sponsored events.  

Grounds & Maintenance Team Ensures the upkeep of the church facilities, providing a safe environment for all and presenting a pleasant outward appearance.   Opportunities:  Utilizing “handy” skills to perform tasks including lawn care, snow removal, building repairs, landscaping, parking lot maintenance and basic construction duties.  

Hospitality Team
Creates a welcoming and positive experience for all who attend Asbury Church with the goal of creating a warm and friendly atmosphere that fosters relationship building and a sense of community. 
 
Opportunities:  Welcoming guests to services, assisting with seating, offering & communion, volunteering to serve at the coffee bar & Welcome/Information center.  

Kidz Zone Team * Ensure the children of Asbury Church are educated about the Gospel and are given opportunities to connect with others their age in a fun, interactive and caring learning environment.   Opportunities: Ministering to the children of Asbury church through arts & crafts, story time, play time and teaching Bible stories during the regularly scheduled church services. Kidz Zone serves children ranging in age from 4-11.  

Nursery Team * Ensures the safety and comfort of our youngest church members and allows their parents or caregivers the ability to participate in Sunday services uninterrupted while their children are in a safe, friendly environment. Responsibilities: Caring for infants and young children ranging from newborns to 3 years old during weekend services. This ministry ensures that basic care and needs of infants and young children are met while family members are attending church service.  Biblical principles are also taught through Bible stories, songs and play.  

Life Group Teams Establishes and promotes relationships and provides relevant and effective biblical teachings  to foster continued spiritual and personal growth.   Opportunities:   A 10-12 week small group that meets weekly and allows for relationship building and helping people grow in their relationship with God.  

Men’s Ministry Team Provides opportunities for men to create meaningful relationships and grow in their walk with God.   Opportunities: Assists in serving the men of Asbury Church through coordinating of men’s breakfasts, morning coffee meetings and other various events.  

Outreach Team Creates opportunities for Christ-centered outreach and sharing the Gospel in both local and international areas.   Opportunities: Sharing the love of Christ with our local community and through partnerships with local or international missionaries and groups.  

Teaching Team Creates and administers biblical principles and/or studies in order to deepen and strengthen new and existing relationships with God.   Opportunities: Providing instruction and teaching for Adult Christian Education Bible classes.  

Media Team Ensures church services and other events run smoothly through the use of technology.   Opportunities: Utilizing technology to serve in areas such as audio/visual equipment operation for worship services, lighting, church website editing and content creation, Facebook posting and monitoring.    

Women’s Ministry Team Provides opportunities for women to create meaningful relationships with Christ and with others.   Opportunities: Assisting in serving women through coordinating ladies brunches, Bible studies, prayer gatherings and other various events.  

Worship Team Creates an environment for God’s presence through the gifts of song and instrument playing, bringing people into the presence of our Father.   Opportunities: Participating in weekly church worship services as a vocalist or instrumentalist as part of our worship team.    

Youth Ministry Team * Provides a safe and fun atmosphere for teens to develop and grow in their relationship with God through Biblical teaching, worship and relationship building.   Opportunities: Assisting in serving the youth of Asbury Church through weekly scheduled youth gatherings, various conferences and other regional events/trips. The youth ministry serves teens ranging in age from 11-18.  

*As part of state mandated regulations, these ministries require a current completed background screen to be on file with the church before you can begin working with minors. A copy of our Safe Sanctuary and Application will be sent to you prior to serving in these capacities.
